“You gotta dig a little deeper. Find out who you are.” – Mama Odie

Finding yourself and making connections in college can be tough, especially at a school that feels so big at first. Even though there are multiple ways to get involved on campus, it can still be difficult to make genuine connections with your peers. This is why the Office of Health Promotion offers the Soul Series, a range of events for students to meet each other and discuss meaningful topics in a safe space. If you’ve felt alone on campus, just looking to make deeper connections or talk about issues that matter to you, the Soul Series is for you! (Read: Soul Series is for everyone!)

This entirely free, one-day retreat for first year and transfer students offers deep conversations around authenticity, mindfulness and belonging. SoulSearch is a great way for new students to meet others who are also interested in making connections on campus. You’ll receive a basic introduction to practices like mindfulness and yoga which can be great stress-relievers. Pre-register online now to join in! Transportation and meals are provided. Here are the SoulSearch dates for the rest of the semester:

On select Sunday’s from 6 to 7 p.m., students come together at Hendricks Chapel to discuss a wide variety of meaningful topics over a free meal. These meaningful chats correspond with the SoulTalk topic of the week. If you’re looking to meet new people on campus in an informal setting, Soulful Eats is a great place to do so. No registration nor RSVP required, just bring yourself! Here are this semester’s dates and corresponding themes:

When Sean Martinelli ‘15 founded Soul-Sitdowns, he thought that there was something missing at the university: “A space for everybody, where students can do some self-exploration and reflection and really improve their inner health and well-being as a result.” SoulTalk was created as a result, and has been a great success. Come join fellow students on Mondays from 7 to 8 p.m. in 204 Tolley Hall for meaningful conversations about self-reflection, life’s purpose, mindfulness, and more.

SoulSearch Link
