With student needs forefront, the new Off-Campus Housing Search website was launched. Here are some of the benefits of this new resource:

  • At the time of listing, properties are checked to ensure they have not received City of Â鶹ƵµÀcode violations and that properties have received an internal and external site inspection by City of Â鶹ƵµÀCode Enforcement within the past three years.
  • Easily search, filter, save and share off-campus housing properties that match unique needs (e.g. distance to campus, cost, number of rooms and more).
  • Instantly contact properties
  • Find Â鶹ƵµÀUniversity student roommates
  • Explore Â鶹ƵµÀUniversity student subleasing opportunities

, the University’s director of apartment and off-campus living, led efforts in launching the new website and offers further insight surrounding the student experience:

  • 01
When should students begin looking for off-campus housing?

While it may seem early, it is important for students to begin planning and searching for off-campus housing at least a year prior to living off-campus. The prime lease signing period is typically August through October of the year before seeking to live off-campus. Additionally, it’s important to highlight that the proactive year in advance planning is recommended for both students staying in the Â鶹ƵµÀarea and those studying abroad who may then be in need of leasing and/or finding a lease per fall or spring semester of the approaching academic year. Properties may be available following August through October, though proactive action is encouraged for students seeking to obtain certain amenities and/or want the most options to select from.

  • 02
How does the Off-Campus Housing Search website enhance the overall student living experience?

We’ve worked to create not only a trusted resource but a one-stop shop to support all off-campus living needs our students may face while conducting planning and searches. Though we cannot recommend specific places to live, we can and do work to provide students the best resources to find properties to meet their needs, going the extra step to ensure properties are City of Â鶹ƵµÀcompliant before they are even posted on the website.

  • 03
How does the property listing verification process work?

Â鶹ƵµÀarea properties interested in being listed on the Off-Campus Housing Search website first are connected with the Student Living apartment and off-campus living team. The team checks with the City of Â鶹ƵµÀto confirm the property’s rental ability, there are no pending code violations and that property occupancy certificates are on file. The team also ensures that the property has had an internal and external inspection by the City of Â鶹ƵµÀCode Enforcement Office within the last three years. Once all required information is verified, the team permits the requested listing to be posted.

  • 04
How does the Off-Campus Housing Search website help to increase student safety?

In addition to the mentioned rigorous property listing verification process, the Roommates and Subleases sections of the website are only available to Â鶹ƵµÀUniversity students. This means that though the property listings may be publicly available, only Â鶹ƵµÀUniversity students may use their NetID and password to access and connect with peers to explore off-campus roommate and subleasing opportunities.

How does the Off-Campus Housing Search website support a variety of unique living preferences?

The new website offers a range of properties that host a variety of locations, amenities, styles and price ranges. When exploring the website students can easily filter options to meet specific needs (e.g. utilities, number of beds, number of baths, as well as numerous other options).
