Thomas Keck, professor of political science and the Michael O. Sawyer Chair of Constitutional Law and Politics in the Maxwell School, was interviewed for the Sinclair Broadcast Group story “” After the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, President Donald Trump has nominated Amy Coney Barrett to fill the seat. Keck, an expert on the U.S. Supreme Court, says that Republicans have been more focused on filling seats in the court than Democrats for a long time, explaining why Biden’s campaign has not focused heavily on the topic. “If you’re the Biden campaign and you think this election is going to be won by appealing to white moderates in the Midwest, maybe it feels like focusing on coronavirus and Trump’s bad handling of that is the way to go,” says Keck.
