Robert Thompson, Trustee Professor of television, radio and film in the Newhouse School and director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture, was quoted in the Pop Times Story “” Thompson, an expert on pop culture and the film/television industry, says a major reason for the fall in awards show interest is because of the sheer amount of content compared to the past. “Everybody had at least heard of all the nominees. People were watching the same stuff at the same time. That’s not the case anymore. People won’t care as much if they’ve never seen the nominees,” says Thompson.
