Brooks Gump
In an opinion piece for U.S. News & World Report, Gump writes that the best way to control the pandemic is through the tried-and-true methodology of testing, tracing and isolating, and America shutting down bought us time to collectively get our act together but we have “horribly squandered” the opportunity as “multiple states are seeing surges in infections tied to relaxed restrictions and reopening too soon.”
Gump says the country needs to be more aggressive in its approach to controlling the virus. “We are approaching this historic 100-year event with timidity, and then using politics to justify our inaction,” he writes. “If we continue on our current path, we face a very predictable outcome, and it is not good.”
