Mary Lovely, Professor of Economics in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, was interviewed by NPR for the article “” President Trump warned of possible sanctions “against China over its treatment of Hong Kong,” acting as a new source of tension between the US and China. Professor Lovely, an expert on international economics and trade with China, said that the world economy has changed greatly due to COVID-19, and therefore “China’s purchases are going to be affected. One, because their demand collapsed; secondly, because American supply collapsed. So you had sort of a double whammy.”
