Karen Davis ’83, G’90
The College of Engineering and Computer Science (ECS) has announced Karen Davis ’83, G’90 will be in a permanent role as assistant dean for inclusive excellence. Davis has been leading the in an interim role since October 2018 and successfully led the formation of the first ECS Inclusive Excellence Council.
“Karen’s accomplishments over the past year in regard to diversity, equity and inclusion have touched every aspect of our college through education, research, dialogue, policy and assessment,”says Dean J. Cole Smith. “She is a leader both in our college and on campus. We are thrilled to have her lead the Office of Inclusive Excellence in a permanent role building bridges and breaking barriers in our community.”
In just the first year, Davis led the ECS Inclusive Excellence Council through the completion of a diversity audit and exceeded the implementation goals of

Before forming the Office of Inclusive Excellence, Davis helped countless students as the director of career services at ECS and has a proven track record of excellence in career and student services, staffing and diversity, business analysis and other roles at 鶹ƵUniversity and the Carrier Corporation.
“I am excited about the progress we have made thus far, but I also humbly accept the challenge of continuing to utilize creative and innovative approaches to making a positive impact on our college community,” Davis says.
