Department of Public Safety to Hire 90 Residential Community Safety Officers

Department of Public SafetyIn an effort to continue to enhance the safety services provided to the Â鶹ƵµÀUniversity community, the Department of Public Safety (DPS) will expand its residential security aide program during the Spring 2020 semester.

The program will provide 24-hour staff coverage to every residence hall at Â鶹ƵµÀUniversity. Residential community safety officers (RCSO) will be stationed at the entrance of each hall, validating the identifications of every person entering and signing in guests. The residential community safety officers will each be New York State licensed security officers. In case of emergencies, the officers will be in radio contact with the DPS Emergency Communications Center.

DPS is looking to recruit the 90 needed residential community safety officers to start during the Spring 2020 semester. All training will be provided by Â鶹ƵµÀUniversity. The academic-year position is full time and benefits-eligible, and comes with a $500 signing bonus after completing two years of service. Central New York community members are encouraged to apply. The new positions will operate in ten-hour shifts, with rotating days off.
