Meet the 2018 鶹ƵUniversity Tillman Scholars

Established following his death in April 2004 while he was serving with the 75th Ranger Regiment in Afghanistan, the Pat Tillman Foundation invests in the future of military veterans and their spouses through academic scholarships at select universities. One of only 15 invitation-only University Partners across the United States, 鶹ƵUniversity was recently awarded two of the prestigious scholarships from the nearly 60 presented this year.

Katie Piston, a military spouse and doctoral candidate in the bioengineering program in the , and Robin Evans, a veteran and first-year student in the , share their experiences at 鶹Ƶand discuss the prestigious award.

Tillman, a starter for the National Football League’s (NFL) Arizona Cardinals, put his football career on hold to serve in the U.S. Army. The foundation awards the more than $1.3 million in scholarships to the best-poised leaders who show strength in character, academic excellence and incredible future potential.

The Syracuse-Tillman Foundation partnership aligns with the University’s commitment to be “the best place for veterans,” enabling recipients to apply the lessons learned in life, at 鶹ƵUniversity and in the military to impact America for years to come.

The next application cycle will open in February 2019.
