鶹ƵUniversity Ambulance (SUA) and Fire Safety are partnering to offer CPR training for students, faculty and staff. Individuals interested in the training have the option of two classes. They can register for class on Monday, March 12, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. or Monday, March 26, from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Both classes will take place in 020 Lyman.
These trainings offer the American Heart Association Heart Saver class, which will review adult, child and infant CPR, including AED usage. Members of the campus community who complete the training will be CPR-certified.
“In this class, you will review and gain the knowledge of the five links of the American Heart Association chain of survival. With this knowledge, you will be ready to recognize and assist in the event of a cardiac emergency either on or off campus,” says Paul Smyth, manager of emergency medical services in Health Services.
The course costs $50 per person, which includes the certification and a pocket mask. Attendees can pay by check or SU interdepartmental order. Please bring a form of payment to the class.
To register, interested participants can contact Smyth at pjsmyth@syr.edu. Class sizes will be limited to 10 people per session. If a group or department would like to arrange a private class, contact Smyth.
SUA and Fire Safety are gearing up for additional trainings this spring semester. If interested individuals cannot make either March date, stay tuned for future trainings.
