Across the nation, many people, single or in relationships, have mixed feelings about celebrating Valentine’s Day. Buzzfeed recently ran an article about this, entitled “Is Celebrating Valentine’s Day Important?” For expert commentary, they turn to College of Arts and Sciences assistant professor and director of the Close Relationships Lab Laura VanderDrift, who said it’s all about what a couple makes of it.

“So, does celebrating Valentine’s Day matter? Most likely, no,” she said. “But it is important to find authentic ways to enjoy and celebrate your relationship throughout the year, so if Valentine’s Day serves as a good reminder of that, then great!”
