With similar scandals coming from the men at the helm, Fox News and Weinstein Co. both found themselves at the epicenter of a national scandal.  However, while Roger Ailes’ scandal never really threatened to shut down Fox News, Weinstein Co. is in danger of just that following Harvey Weinstein’s allegations of sexual assault. In the Washington Post, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture Robert Thompson detailed why this is the case.

“Fox News is in nearly all American homes,” he said. “They’ve got this enormous infrastructure of staff, reporters, regular programming. . . . Shutting that down would have been hard to do.”
