The College of Law and 2U Inc. today announced a partnership to develop a hybrid juris doctor (J.D.) degree program, pending New York State and American Bar Association approval.

“This hybrid program will continue our tradition of innovation and excellence in legal education,” says William Banks, interim dean of the College of Law. “We believe that an outstanding legal education should be as dynamic as the law itself. That’s why 鶹ƵLaw has chosen to partner with 2U to develop a hybrid J.D. degree program developed by our nationally and internationally known faculty that will help us expand upon our mission to provide modern legal training for tomorrow’s lawyers and leaders, including those who cannot easily attend a fully residential program.”

The J.D. program will feature live, face-to-face online classes and dynamic course content delivered through 2U’s platform. 鶹ƵLaw faculty will create coursework using 2U’s proprietary Bidirectional Learning Tool™, which empowers law professors to teach online using a variety of teaching approaches including the Socratic method, and offers students the chance to learn and receive feedback from classmates and professors in real time. The 鶹ƵLaw hybrid program will also feature traditional in-person learning experiences, including on-campus courses, and applied learning experiences including externships.
