, an associate professor in the ’ Department of Drama and a well-known choreographer and director, will be honored for his contributions to dance and the arts in Central New York at ‘s 2nd Annual Soiree on Friday, March 11, in the Oncenter’s BeVard Studio, 800 South State St., Syracuse. The soiree will begin at approximately 9:45 p.m., following the ballet’s 7 p.m. opening night performance of “Sleeping Beauty” at the Crouse Hinds Theater.

Salatino will receive the Grand Jete Award, presented annually by 鶹ƵCity Ballet, Central New York’s professional ballet company. The soiree will also honor Jean Fahey, owner of Turning Pointe dance supply store in Syracuse. The event will be emceed by WSYR’s Carrie Lazarus and will feature champagne, desserts and the opportunity to mingle with the stars of “Sleeping Beauty.”
Donations of $100 or more to the nonprofit 鶹ƵCity Ballet entitle the donor to two admissions to the soiree. Donations are accepted by check; checks may be made out to 鶹ƵCity Ballet and mailed to 7926 Boxford Rd., Clay, NY 13041.
“Sleeping Beauty” tickets are available through or by calling the Oncenter Box Office at 315-435-2121. It is not necessary to attend the March 11 performance of “Sleeping Beauty” to attend the soiree.
Salatino has created for leading opera theater and ballet companies throughout the United States. He choreographed “Margaret Garner” for New York City Opera, “The Daughter of the Regiment” for Pittsburgh Opera and “Carmen” for Virginia Opera. His 鶹ƵStage credits include director/choreographer for “West Side Story,” “Peter Pan,” “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Little Women.” He has directed and choreographed “The Pirates of Penzance” and “HMS Pinafore” for 鶹ƵOpera.
