A search committee has been appointed to identify a new dean for the . The committee, chaired by Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs and Professor of Law LaVonda N. Reed, includes a student, faculty and staff from the College of Law and University administration, as well as alumni from the College of Law.

In addition to Reed, members of the committee are:

• Rakesh K. Anand, professor of law at the College of Law
• Cody J. Carbone, law student and Student Bar Association president
• Ronald M. Denby, assistant dean for information technology at the College of Law
• Lisa A. Dolak, senior vice president and University secretary; Angela S. Cooney Professor of Law; and alumna, College of Law
• Daniel J. French, University interim general counsel and alumnus, College of Law
• Ian Gallacher, professor of law and director of the Legal Communication and Research Program, College of Law
• Melanie Gray, partner, Winston & Strawn LLP; University trustee; and alumna, College of Law
• Margaret M. Harding, associate dean for faculty and professor of law
• Kenneth Kavajecz, dean of the Martin J. Whitman School of Management
• Deborah S. Kenn, associate dean of clinical and experiential education; director of the Office of Clinical Legal Education and the Community Development Law Clinic; and professor of law
• Marc A. Malfitano, attorney and real estate developer; chair, College of Law Board of Advisors; adjunct professor; and alumnus, College of Law
• Terry L. Turnipseed, professor of law; director of the �鶹Ƶ��Law Semester in D.C.; and professor of engineering and computer science

“I am excited to work with this distinguished group, each of whom individually brings a wealth of experience and energy to this important effort as well as a significant commitment to the future of the College of Law,” says Reed. “As we move forward in the search for our next dean, we are eager to engage the College of Law community in identifying the best candidate for the position.”

The committee is tasked with identifying a successor to former Dean Hannah Arterian, who stepped down on Aug. 1 after 13 years as dean to resume her teaching and scholarly work as a member of the College of Law faculty. William C. Banks, Board of Advisers Distinguished Professor of Law and founding director of the Institute for National Security and Counterterrorism at the College of Law, currently serves as interim dean. He also holds a joint appointment as professor of public administration and international affairs at the Maxwell School.

Assisting the search committee will be John Amer and Kenneth Kring of the search firm Korn Ferry. Korn Ferry is the world’s leading management consulting firm specializing in executive recruitment, having served on 30 successful law school dean searches in the past few years.
