The Office of Multicultural Affairs, within Student Affairs, is looking for faculty and staff mentors for the fullCIRCLE Mentoring Program to serve during the 2015-16 academic year. fullCIRCLE is a sustainable, multilayered program designed to assist students in effectively adjusting to the challenges of college life, including those that are academic, social, professional and personal in nature, with the goal of retention.
The program serves first-year and upper-class students with an emphasis on black/African American, Asian American/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latin American, and Indigenous/Native American students. In an effort to support this evolving population of students, the fullCIRCLE Mentoring Program was created to help students during their transition into college, as well as throughout their academic years. The program promotes academic success, personal development, campus leadership and civic engagement.
“As we continue to grow the program for next year, we are looking for strong faculty and staff mentors to help guide our students as they navigate their way through college,” says Valerie J. Martinez, associate director of mentoring and diversity education in the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
To become a fullCIRCLE mentor, please email fullCIRCLE@syr.edu with your contact information. A link to the online application will then be sent. The application must be completed and submitted by Friday, June 5. Applicants will need to attend one of two training dates.
