鶹ƵYouth Orchestras to Perform Feb. 1

The 鶹ƵYouth Orchestra (SYO) and 鶹ƵYouth String Orchestra (SYSO) will present a concert on Sunday, Feb. 1, at 3:30 p.m. at Eagle Hill Middle School, 4645 Enders Rd., Manlius.

Tickets for the concert are $10 for adults and $5 for students ages 6-18. Admission for children age 5 and under is free. Tickets may be purchased at the door.

The SYO will perform the “Procession of the Nobles” by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and the first movement of Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 2. The SYSO will perform Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Rhosymedre,” Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Capriccio Espagnol” and “Four Moments in a Year” by the SYSO’s own violinist and composer Yier Jin.

The 鶹ƵYouth Orchestras are part of the Community Music Division of the Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music in 鶹ƵUniversity’s . The SYO is conducted by James R. Tapia, and the SYSO is conducted by Karen Veverka.

The 鶹ƵYouth Orchestras consist of some of the most talented middle and high school student musicians from across Central New York. Performing in these ensembles helps students grow musically and intellectually and learn discipline and teamwork that will benefit them throughout life.
