The will have a presence in New York City this summer with a new, six-week workshop on media entrepreneurship. Taught by , director of Newhouse’s , the workshop will run May 12-June 23 at 鶹ƵUniversity Fisher Center, 136 Madison Ave.

Coursework, designed for early- and mid-career professionals, will cover the basics of starting a new venture in the media industry. Some topics include timing, trends, myths, growing an idea, types of ventures and business model generation.

“I believe that right now may be the best time ever to start a new media business,” says Branagan. “Everyone knows the media industry is undergoing great change and disruption. This causes a lot of anxiety, certainly, but it is also a time of great opportunity. That’s why we are seeing all kinds of small, medium and large media startups. The average new entrepreneur is over 39 and the success rate is higher for more experienced founders. We want to help accelerate this in media.”

The workshop will be offered on Mondays from 6-9 p.m. Cost is $2,500, with 35 percent discount for those who register by April 29.
