Jennifer Horvath has joined Â鶹ƵµÀUniversity Abroad as marketing and communications manager, effective Sept. 4. Horvath most recently held the position of public information officer at SU’s Department of Public Safety.

HorvathIn her new role at SU Abroad, Horvath will manage the division’s brand and messaging, inclusive of print, social and digital media. She brings to the position deadline-driven writing and editing skills, public relations and crisis communication expertise, and project management and design experience. Horvath will report to Daeya Malboeuf, executive director of communications for Enrollment Management and SU Abroad, and will work closely with SU Abroad staff, both on campus and overseas.

At DPS, Horvath’s duties included the development of promotional materials, management of the department’s social media channels and website, maintenance of the DPS brand, media relations and written communications. Before joining DPS, Horvath was a copy writer for the marketing department at Daemen College, and a media relations intern for the Buffalo Bills. She has also written and edited articles for Â鶹ƵµÀUniversity Athletics and Â鶹ƵµÀMagazine.

At SU, Horvath also served as United Way campaign coordinator, supporting a record-setting 2011 campaign for the United Way of Central New York at Â鶹ƵµÀUniversity. She coordinated a volunteer staff of more than 100 for a five-month fundraising campaign.

A graduate of SU with a bachelor’s degree in magazine journalism and political science, Horvath is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public relations from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
