SU NEWS AND EVENTS COVERAGE

and articles reported on a Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) request for immigration enforcement data which has been denied by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.

previewed 鶹ƵUniversity’s upcoming Angela Davis lecture and screening of a new documentary about collaboration between Davis and Yuri Kochiyama. Davis is a Visiting Distinguished Professor in the departments of Women’s and Gender Studies and African American Studies in The College of Arts and Sciences. The screening event is hosted by SU’s Democratizing Knowledge Project.

The Central New York Business Journal reported on a campus meeting between L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science (LCS) department chairs and regional technology companies exploring possible areas for collaboration. Chilukuri Mohan, professor and chair of the LCS department of electrical engineering and computer sciences, and Radhakrishna Sureshkumar, LCS professor and chair of biomedical and chemical engineering, are mentioned in the article.

The design business website updated its feature story on the Near Westside Initiative (NWSI) and Connective Corridor project, “A Love Letter to Syracuse,” with a video by Faythe Levine and Samuel Macon documenting the evolution of the artwork. Maarten Jacobs, NWSI director; Chris McCray, director of SU’s COLAB; and Shoham Arad, COLAB consultant for programming and innovation, are quoted.

The reviewed the performance of “Cabaret” by SU’s Department of Drama in the College of Visual and Performing Arts.

FACULTY QUOTES

Vin Crosbie, senior consultant on executive education for new media and adjunct professor of visual and interactive communications at S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, delivered the Singapore Press Holdings Foundation third annual Media in Transition Lecture at the Drama Centre of Singapore’s National Library. Crosbie spoke on “The Greatest Change in the History of Media.” News coverage included and articles in the Straits Times and the Business Times of Singapore along with Chinese-language press coverage.

Aileen Gallagher, assistant professor of multiplatform journalism at the Newhouse School, interviewed writer and humorist David Sedaris for New York magazine’s website.

The reported on the closing keynote address by R. David Lankes, associate professor in the School of Information Studies (iSchool), for the inaugural virtual summit, Ebooks: Libraries at the Tipping Point, presented by the Library Journal and the School Library Journal.

The notes that the National Ornamental Metal Museum in Memphis, Tenn. spotlighted Michael Jerry, professor emeritus in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, as Master Metalsmith for 2010 with an exhibition of his work. Also, a story in the (Memphis, Tenn.) on the National Ornamental Metal Museum’s Repair Days makes note of Jerry’s honor as master metalsmith.

Dinesh Gauri, assistant professor of marketing in the Whitman School of Management, appeared on ’s “Bridge Street” program to discuss his research related to increased gas prices and consumer behavior.

Tom Barkley, assistant professor of finance in the Whitman School, appeared as a guest on Thursday’s Financial Fitness program on WCNY.
