Selections from the second annual “Silver Screen Spectacular” can be heard Saturday, Sept. 5, from 6–8 p.m. on WCNY-FM’s “Concert Hall” hosted by Bill Baker.

Staged last March at the Palace Theatre and Café in Syracuse, “Silver Screen Spectacular” was a multimedia event featuring live music and onscreen images representing the movies “Amadeus,” “Apollo 13,” “Brassed Off,” “Kiss Me, Kate,” “The Lion King,” “Midway,” “The Mission,” “Mission: Impossible,” “Sister Act” and “Zulu;” cinematic highlights by Gilbert and Sullivan; and music from popular animated features, accompanied by commentary from Bruce Paulsen, host of WCNY-FM’s “Classic Choices” (Monday–Friday, 2–7 p.m.) and a professional singer, actor and director.

The SUBE producer for the broadcast is Sarah Spencer. SUBE technical editor is Mary Kasprzyk. SUBE recording engineer is Jim Abbott. The music director of the SUBE is James T. Spencer, professor and associate dean in SU’s College of Arts and Sciences.

SUBE is composed of professional and professional-level musicians from SU, and the surrounding community. The group presents 16–18 concerts per year, including “Holidays at Hendricks” (broadcast on WCNY-TV and WCNY-FM) and a Fourth of July concert with the at the New York State Fairgrounds.
