, Trustee Professor of television, radio and film and director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the Newhouse School, was featured in The Washington Post article “.” The story highlights the decline of the Travel Channel, which is now full of paranormal content, rather than being devoted to travel and leisure. Thompson says,  “When cable was first launched, the idea was it was going to be this miracle of places you could go for anything you wanted and there’d be 24-hour specific programming for that. So many places, that didn’t necessarily work out.”
