“SU Professor says President’s Closed Social Media Accounts Fall Under Big Tech’s Terms of Service”

Roy Gutterman, associate professor of magazine, news and digital journalism in the Newhouse School and director of the Tully Center for Free Speech, was interviewed for the WAER story “.” Gutterman, an expert on First Amendment law, says that social media platforms’ suspension of President Trump’s accounts is simply how they would have treated any other user. “Well, we’re not in a court of law at this point and right now we’re just enforcing the terms of the use of service on the platforms.  The President, just like anybody else is subject to the terms that these private platforms put forward,” says Gutterman.
