Gladys McCormick, associate professor of history in the Maxwell School, was interviewed by CNN for the report “” Professor McCormick, who also serves as the Jay and Debe Moskowitz Endowed Chair in Mexico-U.S. Relations and is an expert on modern Mexican history, says that “López Obrador’s visit will allow [Trump] to showcase how he has bent Mexico to his will by reminding voters that this is a ‘very good deal’ for the US while signaling his achievements at strong-arming Mexico on immigration policies.”
