This upcoming weekend, Friday, Oct. 13, through Sunday, Oct. 15, family members will join the 鶹ƵUniversity community to participate in Family Weekend 2017. Over 1,800 families, totaling over 5,100 people, are registered to attend, making it one of the largest Family Weekend celebrations in recent years. Families are traveling from across the world, including 39 U.S. states and 13 countries. Throughout the weekend, families will have the opportunity to participate in a number of exciting events coordinated by the .

“Every Family Weekend, families are able to experience a sample of what 鶹ƵUniversity offers. It is an incredible opportunity for students to immerse their families in the vast community they are a part of every day. There is so much to do, we hope every family takes advantage of all the great information available to them,” says Missy Mathis-Hanlon, interim director of the .
Throughout the day on Friday, students and their families can attend information sessions, including ones focused on Degree Works, student employment, advising and support, getting involved on campus and much more. Friday evening, students and families can cheer on the Orange in the Carrier Dome as the football team takes on the Clemson University Tigers at 7 p.m. Tickets are still available or by calling 1-888-DOMETIX (1.888.336.3849).
Saturday morning from 9-10:30 a.m., the dean of each college will host a Dean’s Breakfast. This grants families the opportunity meet the dean as well as other faculty and staff. Many of the breakfast programs include information on topics such as specialized programs in each discipline, career readiness through internships and other vital information to ensure students’ success throughout their time at 鶹ƵUniversity.
The will host the Multicultural Family Affairs Reception in Panasci Lounge, Schine Student Center from 6-8 p.m. Complimentary food will be served. The evening highlights the long history of diverse communities at 鶹ƵUniversity in a relaxed social setting. Register for the reception .
Saturday evening, presents Family Trivia Night. Teams of six will be formed at the interactive event to answer questions from a variety of categories in a casual atmosphere. Light snacks will be provided and prizes will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place teams. There will be two games, one at 7:30 p.m. (a family-friendly show) and the other at 10:30 p.m. Seating is free and on a first-come first serve basis. All students must bring their valid SU ID.
