The art education program is now accepting reservations for its spring 2017 Art Workshops for Young People, a laboratory school taught by art education undergraduate and graduate students dually enrolled in the and . The art education students are supervised by the art education faculty.
Workshops are taught by art education undergraduate and graduate students.
The workshops are held on campus at Comstock Art Facility, 1055 Comstock Ave., on Saturday mornings for students ages 5-17. Children are divided into five age groups (5, 6, 7-8, 9-11, and 12+). They learn different techniques and practices in art and have the opportunity to create a beautiful series of work in the eight weeks that the workshops meet. At the end of the semester, a culminating event called “The Big Show” is presented. Student work from the semester is displayed and celebrated by faculty, staff, family and friends.
Instructors are encouraged to experiment with a variety of materials and methods over the course of the workshops. Material exploration may range from painting, ceramics and printmaking to installation art, performance or jewelry making, and anything in between.
The spring workshops run Feb. 4-April 8; no workshops will be held March 11 and 18 due to Spring Break. Students may enroll in either the 9:30-10:45 a.m. session or 11:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m. session.
The workshop fee is $65 ($40 for each additional child) and includes all art supplies. Cash or check (made out to 鶹ƵUniversity) should be brought to the first session. Checks are preferred. To register for the workshops, visit .
